THETIS

Dance and marble stretch our muscle of time. From now to 180 Mio. years ago into a jurassic world of mussles and ammonites.

THETIS plays with the esthetic time laps between the jurassic marble of Adnet and the volatile dance of Lawine Torrèn.

It is based on a performative shooting in the Adnet quarry, where spectators were invited instead of excluded. Dance is volatile. In the very moment of it´s bodily expression it evaporates, whereas the background is jurassic. While the choreography "tells" a story of the Nymph Thetis´ wedding with Peleus, jealous guests, strange gifts and their son´s recruitment for the trojan war, the setting stresses a mindblasting 180 mio. years of geology.

The project THETIS places dance within a time capsule. By condensing it in different steps (live performance, photo, video and at last sculptural relief) the cinesthetic essence spills over into a medium that is able to conserve events of beauty for millions of years: marble. The exhibit A of renaissance art, rilievo schiacciato, the marble relief, encapsulates dance (theoreticly) for eternity.
